 Care of your Flowers

Please read the following information to help obtain the maximum preservation results.

DO keep your flowers in a cool, dry place out of direct heat and sunlight.
DO put tied Bouquets or exposed stems in water.  If the exposed stems are dry at the ends, carefully re-cut each stem individually with a sharp knife or scissors with a diagonal cut to maximise the amount of water allowed to be taken up by each stem.
DO water wet oasis, being careful not to wet flowers or foliage.
DO remove corsages or buttonholes that you wish to be preserved, as soon as possible to prevent flowers wilting.
DO remove bridal flowers as soon as it is possible from a warm reception room

DO NOT spray or submerge flowers or foliage in water.
DO NOT keep flowers in a freezer, refrigerator or any type of very cold storage.
DO NOT keep flowers in hot or wet conditions,  for as long as it is possible.
DO NOT put flowers into plastic bags when delivering for preservation., but DO pack carefully in a dry cardboard box and leave open so enable flowers to breathe.

Helpful notes for your Florist

Please inform your Florist your Bouquet or flowers are to be preserved.  Request that it is preferable to have the flowers, if not tied, arranged in wet oasis, leaving the natural stems, and using the least amount of wire and gutta as possible, as wires internally bruise the flowers causing the bloom to rot and disintegrate from the inside first, therefore any damage is not always visible from looking at the blooms from the outer petals.

Please request your florist does not use any floristry product to prolong the life of the blooms by sealing in moisture, as this can prevent the rapid extraction of the moisture required for the success of preservation.

Please note there is always a slight risk with pressing and preserving.  The flowers and foliage may lighten or darken or very in colour tone depending upon the variety and condition.  However we are able to enhance colours of flowers and foliage, on your request, bringing a freshness and vibrancy back to your arrangement.

Can I send my flowers by courier?

No.  Sorry, Sarah-Jane never accepts flowers sent by any courier service. No matter how carefully flowers are packed the blooms will endure stress and damage which is irreversible, especially if, for any reason, they do not arrive to their destination in their allocated time.  Flowers are only accepted when hand delivered or collected by prior arrangement.

How soon do you need the flowers for Pressing or Preservation?

Flowers are required to be booked in prior to event, if possible, although not essential.

All flowers are required within 2 days after event, however, please do contact us if you have flowers over the 2 day requirement period.  We will gladly advise you if we feel preservation is achievable to create a picture, only to our highest standards.

Some flowers may be arranged in a water retaining agent called oasis.  If so, the flowers will keep fresher for longer allowing preservation to take place later than the 2 day recommendation.

Can you collect my flowers for preservation?

Yes.  There would be a collection charge of £35.00, within a 20 mile radius of Gillingham, and within the county of Kent only (see map on page - How to Pay). Please call with your collection address and will shall be pleased to quote you a price if you are outside this area.  Please note collection may not always be possible if this service is not booked in advance or we are in a busy period, however, please do not hesitate to call to see if we can be of assistance.  We are also happy to deliver your completed picture back to you, with a delivery charge, again depending upon location.

How long does it take to preserve and frame my flowers?

The completion time of your picture may vary due to season, frame type and style chosen and time when frame is decided upon (before or after Preservation).  The average completion time is approximately 2 - 4 months.

Will you return my booking deposit if I decide not to proceed?
Yes.  We will return your booking deposit if you cancel your order 30 days or more prior to the event.  Any orders cancelled with less than 30 days prior to the event will not be returned.

What if I decide not to have my flowers framed after they are preserved?

If you decide you do not want your flowers framed after pressing or preservation, but want to take them away with you, we will box the petals or blooms with an additional charge of £50.00.  If you do not collect your flowers we reserve the right to use them for display purposes.  Please note that  NO booking deposits, frame deposits or any monies paid up to date will be returned.

I've changed my mind - can you press instead of preserve!
Yes and No! Any time up to the point of the pressing or preservation procedure commencing you can change your mind.  Once we have begun a process it will be too late, as each procedure is irreversible.

Can I take home any unused flowers that were not displayed in my picture?
Yes of course, and ,unlike some other preservation companies, we will not charge you for doing so!

When and how do I pay?

The full amount is NOT required all at once!  The payments are made over 2 or 3 instalments as follows.

A booking deposit of £75.00 (£25.00 for 5 blooms or less) is required prior to event or when the flowers are delivered to us.  At this stage a frame may be chosen and a further deposit will be required (this deposit will depend upon style and size of frame ordered).  The final balance will be payable upon collection of your completed picture.  If you wish us to deliver your picture, the final payment will be required before the picture is dispatched.  Please note that no pictures will be released before full payment has been made.

Please see ON LINE payment options, all other payments are by Cash or Cheque only please.

Are there any extra or hidden costs?

No. Prices quoted are your completed picture as detailed on the " prices" page. The only additional charges would include extra or coloured mounts, additions of photographs, scrolls or personal belongings, all at a small fee, and discussed fully with you at the time of ordering.  If collection and/or delivery fees apply, you will be advised of costs which would be payable at time of booking (for collection) or with final balance (for delivery).

Will my flowers be reconstructed to their original design?

Yes.  If you require your Flowers to be reconstructed as their original design ie Bridal Bouquet, this will be discussed with you.  Detailed photographs and notes are taken before preservation, and used to help in the reconstruction process.  If you require a different design, that is fine.  Unlike other preservation companies we do not charge any additional artwork fees for designing the format of your picture.

Where is the best place to hang my picture?

Please remember your Flowers, even though framed are very delicate.  Hang a picture securely with adequate wall fixings.  The best place to hang pictures is on a wall out of direct sunlight (even though fitted with UV glass)  not above a radiator,  or direct heat or cold.  Avoid humid conditions.  Clean frame and glass gently.  Avoid removing picture to clean as this could potentially cause small fragments of dried material to fall.  Any fragments can easily be removed, but if you prefer us to do this, please deliver the picture to us and we will gladly help, with no additional charges!  You may observe, over the years, subtle colour changes in your picture, this is quite normal, as your flowers will naturally age over time.
